This is the traditional annual award ceremony organized by National Geographic Russia, and the prize is awarded for the best destinations for Russian vacationers, based on readers’ voices, which were more than 270,000 this year. The ceremony was held last night in Moscow, and Croatia won the “Family Vacation” category in the strong competition of countries such as Turkey, Bulgaria, Greece, Finland and Cyprus.
Croatia has once again proven that it is a recognizable destination for family vacation on the Russian market, a destination that Russian tourists rank among the top of the desirable tourist destinations. The award was received by the director of the Rajko Ružička representative on behalf of the Croatian Tourist Board, who on this occasion thanked for the trust and reward that will certainly serve as an additional motivation for the future activities of Croatian tourism, as he said, in a very important market. “It is great that, despite the difficulties faced by this market, for three years in a row Russian tourists and the Russian tourism sector have recognized Croatia as an important and reliable partner,” said Ružička, adding that this award confirms the good position of our kernel on the Russian market .
We add that the prizes are awarded in other categories, such as the best summer beach destination, the best winter skiing destination, the best destination for excursions, the gastronomic destination of the year, the best exotic destination, the best destination for health tourism and others.
According to the eVisitor system data, in the current part of the tourist year, more than 132,000 arrivals and 950,000 overnight stays came from Russia, representing a 12 percent increase in arrivals and 10 percent reductions. Looking at destinations, Russian tourists realized most of the overnight stays in Poreč, Umag and Dubrovnik.
