This year, the Croatian Tourist Board also conducted a promotional campaign on the channels of one of the world’s largest travel platforms – Expedia Group. Excellent results were achieved from the promotional activities, which, as part of this campaign, were ongoing on the American market from March to September 2024. Namely, the total value of realized reservations through the campaign amounts to $12,300,000 gross, while the biggest shift is visible in the data on the average length of tourists who made a trip through the Expedia platform, which compared to last year jumped to over seven nights.
“Successful cooperation with our long-term partner Expedia Group is important for the promotion of Croatian tourism in America, our most important distant market from which we generate the largest tourist traffic. These results of the joint campaign prove that we were able to directly influence vacation reservations in Croatia, as well as the length of stay of American guests in our country, with a significant increase in demand for higher quality accommodation,” said Kristjan Staničić, director of the Croatian Tourist Board, adding that precisely the American tourists with their trips outside the main summer season greatly contribute to the results of Croatian tourism in the periods before and after the season.
The campaign included the creation of a Spotlight landing page on Expedia channels and additional promotional activities through various media channels, and in addition to the HTZ, the Dubrovnik-Neretva County TZ, the Split-Dalmatia County TZ, the Zadar County TZ and the Zadar TZ participated in the project. Ultimately, within the campaign, a total of more than 26.1 million impressions were delivered.
Let us add that the popularity of Croatia as a safe and attractive destination among American travel enthusiasts is further confirmed by the choice of the readers of the prestigious American magazine Condé Nast Traveler. As part of the Readers’ Choice Awards, a large audience shared their travel experiences related to the world’s best countries, cities, islands, hotels, resorts, spa oases, etc. This year, too, Croatia was included in the list of the world’s best countries for trips, while the island of Hvar took the 8th place on the list of the best European islands, and Dubrovnik the 10th place on the list of the most beautiful small towns in the world.
“We are particularly pleased with the choice of Condé Nast Traveler readers, according to which our country took an excellent third place on the list of the friendliest destinations in Europe, which is an excellent success considering that last year we took 10th place on this list. In the announcement, it was additionally highlighted that Croatia is rich in national parks, beautiful beaches, but also cultural and historical heritage under the protection of UNESCO”, said Leila Krešić Jurić, director of the HTZ Representative Office in New York.
