As part of the traditional tourist event “Days of Croatian Tourism”, awards for the best of the best in tourism were awarded in the following categories: Cultural, Tourist Attraction of the Year, Tourist Event of the Year, Innovation in Tourism of the Year, Marina Year, Restaurant of the Year, Camp of the Year , Tourist agency of the year, Hotel year, Tourist destination of the year and award “Anton Štifanić” – for life work.
Ten Prizes were delivered by Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, Minister of Tourism Gari Cappelli, Director General of the Croatian Tourist Board Kristjan Staničić and President of the Croatian Chamber of Economy, Luka Burilović. “This year, our country has been rewarded with numerous awards, better than ever ranked on the world tour map and connected with airline lines around the world. We are among the three most desirable destinations in Europe, Croatia is renamed as the most desirable new European destination for Chinese tourists and is proclaimed the best tourist destination in Canadian Quebec. Behind us almost ten months of tourist year that was challenging and exciting, and I believe that positive results will continue in the last months of this record year. This success is the result of the work of all tourist workers, all hosts and those who make tourism better. Therefore, you would like to congratulate all of you and especially the awardees, making Croatian tourism more and more innovative and interesting every year. I believe that in front of all of us is the bright and fulfilling future of Croatian tourism. I believe that through our joint efforts and facing all challenges in the future, we will continue to make the record and make Croatian tourism more competitive, more open and more fulfilling for every visitor, “said Tourism Minister Gari Cappelli.
“Tourism is a very specific sector that has a strong impact on the entire community. That is why this award ceremony as part of the Croatian Tourism Day represents perhaps the most important part, because we further emphasize the importance and contribution of all tourism workers in achieving tourist results. Croatia is today a respectable tourist destination that keeps positive growth trends from year to year, and is the result of the selfless commitment and work of our people. Encouraged by the excellent results this year, we are moving forward strongly and in 2019 for the tourist year, “said HTZ director Kristjan Staničić.
“Human resource is our greatest treasure and the success of tourism we achieve would not be possible without this year’s graduates. What follows us as a society is an even greater increase in the quality, supply and results of tourism, with the strengthening of other sectors that will lead to an increase in GDP and a general level of well-being. In that, tourism is indirectly a big leverage, precisely in terms of placement of our domestic products through tourism that should serve as our best and largest sales outlet. Namely, it is illusory to expect that only tourists in our accommodation will increase the significant market for our companies. But we can expect that our products, from food to furniture or IT solutions in our accommodation, can be successfully promoted and presented to foreign tourists, “said Croatian Chamber of Commerce Luka Burilović.
This award was awarded by the Days of Croatian Tourism in the town of Hvar on the island of Hvar, and the event was attended by over a thousand and eighty participants from the Croatian tourist system and from business and social life.
The organizers are together the Ministry of Tourism, the Croatian National Tourist Board and the Croatian Chamber of Economy, supported by the City of Hvar and the Tourist Board of the City of Hvar, which this year marks 150 years of organized tourism.
