The fifth edition of the Fracture Festival of World Literature (FSK), which is being held this year with an emphasis on German culture and literature, opened the guest of the award-winning Austrian-German writer Daniel Kehlmann on Sunday in Zagreb.
Announcing a rich program of 60 events that will host from 3 to 9 September in Zagreb and Split more than 50 prominent literary names from 17 countries of the world, gathered in the big hall of China Europe, welcomed the editor-in-chief of Fracture and program director of the festival Seid Serdarević .
He stressed that the festival is organizing for the fifth time in Zagreb and the other in Split, and his idea from the beginning is to try to bring in a dialogue between domestic and foreign authors, the best writers that can be translated and translated into Croatian.
“Without these exceptional authors and their creative energy, without our esteemed audience, there would be no festival,” Serdarevic said.
The festival was openly proclaimed by Assistant Minister of Culture Iva Hraste Sočo. She congratulated the organizers on ‘unbridled enthusiasm, persistence and courage’ in this book for crisis times, and expressed her conviction that joint efforts of all library chain members would succeed in overcoming the crisis and find a solution for reviving the Croatian book market.
